Living contentedly is to a great extent feeling comfortable in one’s own surroundings. Facilitating this is Chester Jones‘ principal objective. He and his team design homes. They design for people who may already have chosen apartments, houses, boats or even boltholes to act out some aspect of their dreams. Their commitment is to help in this realization.
The architecture is important this can be restored, enhanced, or even reconfigured. The contents play a major part. Whether old or new they can stimulate the intellect and appeal to emotions. Chester Jones and his team use antiques and artifacts from many different cultures and periods, not for their nostalgia but, through careful juxtaposition, they can excite one another, become re-energized and relevant in the present. Charles Jones set up his studio twenty years ago. He needed the freedom to work in any style that suited the clients, the architecture and the brief.
Their studio is small, deliberately so. Their combined experience is wide. Chester Jones was an architect before joining Colefax and Fowler, The UK’s principal firm of traditional decoration, ending up as managing director. Chester Jones and his team work all over the globe, America, Japan, Continental Europe and the UK. They have produced interiors for offices, restaurants and superyachts, but their main concern is in the design of homes, those private spaces in which people choose to live their lives and express themselves.
Chester Jones designs the architecture often with many pieces of specially designed furniture, lighting fittings, rugs, carpets and textiles. He advises on fine art, decorative arts, and antiques of all periods. He and his team advise on and compile libraries and finally dress their interiors to completion. With a range of consultants, they direct and will manage the most complex or modest of projects. It is, however working closely with their clients that the best of work is achieved. At all points, their clients are encouraged to be at hand to share in this two-way developmental process to ensure that the results reflect their lifestyles.
